FAQs
My New Puppy...
Are your puppies health tested?
Absolutely! All our stud/parent dogs undergo breed specific DNA health testing with OriVet. Every puppy is vaccinated, wormed, and microchipped before going to their new home. We have meticulously selected only the best lines to ensure healthy, genetically and behaviourally sound puppies are produced.
How are your puppies socialised?
From an early age puppies are introduced to our carefully curated Puppy Development Program and are exposed to gentle handling, early noise and smell training, and various environments to help them become well-adjusted and confident companions. They are also socialised with a wide array of animals including chickens, cats, cattle, horses just to name a few!
How much are the puppies?
Our puppies are priced according to each litter and may vary between $1,500 - $3,000 depending on colouring and waitlist availability. The sex of the puppy does not impact their price.
What is included with the puppy?
The price you are quoted includes your puppy, a full health check by our Reproductive Breeding Specialist Vet, Microchipping, 1-2 Vaccinations, Worming, Flea treatment, completion of their specialised Puppy Development Program training and a BlackHawk puppy pack loaded with so many goodies! We also offer a 2-month free package option. For puppies heading interstate, we can assist with the administration of transport and have a great working relationship and experience with reputable companies.
What should I feed my puppy?
All our puppies and stud dogs are fed a raw based diet and BlackHawk bickies. We introduce puppies to a variety of proteins in mince or finely chopped form including beef, turkey, kangaroo, chicken and lamb. We also have them try raw egg and some chopped veggies! This helps them become accustomed to new tastes and smells. They also receive raw beef bones around 6 weeks. Your puppy pack includes loads of samples.
Can I meet my puppy?
Yes! We arrange a ‘Meet & Greet’ from 4 weeks of age and then a longer ‘Playdate’ at 6 weeks. These sessions are for you, your family and your new puppy to snuggle, play and start the beginning of your beautiful new journey together. Our Stud Dogs are always close by for extra play time too! We can even arrange a FaceTime call with your pup if you aren’t able to get to us or live interstate.
What age can I take my puppy home?
Puppies are usually ready to leave between 8-9 weeks of age. This allows time for a full weaning process, become accustomed to their new diets and complete their Puppy Development Program including crate training, paired and solo nights, long leash sessions and loads of socialization. Puppies that are flying interstate will need to wait a little longer and obtain their fit to fly certificate.
Do you offer ongoing breeder support?
Absolutely! There is nothing we wouldn’t do for these little puppies and the success of adjusting to life with you. The health, well being and acclimation is so important to us and we are here every step of the way.
