So, who are we and what do we do?
Meet the Breeder….
My name is Jodi, Mum to my beautiful daughter Octavia, and we live in the incredibly diverse and picturesque Peel Region in a small rural town called Coolup, Western Australia.
I have been surrounded by animals my entire life mainly horses, cattle and dogs (my Mum even found me sleeping with the horses in the stables as a toddler!) and they have helped me through some of the hardest times in my life.
Developing JDs Breeding has been many years in the making, and we have experienced so many highs and lows along the way but have taken everything as an opportunity to learn and grow.
Although we have a variety of animals JDs Breeding specifically focuses on Mini Foxies and Poultry (Polish and Silkies).
Mini Foxies in Western Australia….
When you come to JDs Breeding, we want any potential new puppy owner to know that all the hard work has been done for them. Our dogs have been specifically and meticulously selected for their type, temperament, genetic traits, personality and even their colouring. Each stud dog undertakes the OriVet Full Breed Profile DNA testing to safeguard the quality of our lines.
All this allows me as the breeder to make a very educated placement of the right puppy and owner. We are so thrilled that we are able to offer this fantastic breed and have them more accessible in our home state, these bundles of joy thrive in the diverse lifestyles we live here in WA!
Want to know more or meet our dogs? Sure! Get in touch with us and we can arrange a play date or happy to chat to you about any questions you have!
When I was researching the Mini Foxie there were NO registered breeders here in WA!
So, for people who want to buy a puppy from a reputable stud or are interested in learning more about the breed, meet the parents and puppy itself it was basically impossible to do!
To select the wonderful dogs we have now it took countless hours of Facetime calls, many requests for videos and photos and reading a lot of documentation - our biggest thanks and appreciation go to the breeders for all their time, knowledge and understanding.
Knowing how much effort we put in we can understand why so many people who have wanted a Mini Foxie may have chosen to go with another more accessible or ‘popular’ breed or given up on their dream puppy altogether.
We’ve spoken with many others that were also looking interstate, and they said the same thing, committing to a puppy is extra daunting when you can’t be there in person then add on the extra costs of transport and flights and it goes in the ‘too hard’ basket.
